holiday party
The holiday season is full of joy and happiness and love.
And fruitcake and spending and that crazy Aunt Mabel EVERYone has. Oh, yeah, and holiday parties.
As in "THE" holiday party. One of my friends from way back when (Pre-K?) is one of ten hosts for the ~250 kids. At the red lion hotel, as in wear a tux. Not that I don't enjoy dressing up, but this really bites. I guess it started something like 17 years ago by a family that objected to their co-workers saying that the kids in redding had no manners/couldn't dress up. Well, they put on a party and the main rule was "no backpacks". I don't get it either. Anywho, it's a bunch of kids that dress up nicely and hang out or dance or get their pictures taken or eat or whatever. Well, I got an invitation, so I have to go.
Oh, just one little thing more: my PARENTS will be there.
***all sorts of annoying red lights going off about now***
They were invited by my host-friend's parents, so they are obliged to go as well. shit. What can a guy do? murder is not really an option, too many questions... I'll think of something.
It starts at eight or something like that, so I expect to show up at 8:30 and leave by 9.
