san fran... again
Today I get to drive to San Francisco again. I am picking up my sister in Davis on the way down. My mom is getting installed as the president thingie this Saturday and I get to dress up and wave and look pretty in front of a bunch of people.
So get this. My speedometer cable frayed out and died last week, so my speedometer and odometer went out. Driving stick with no tach or speedo is great fun :) So anyway, i went around town to get a new one, and NOBODY had one in stock or orderable. The only people who could order one was the manufacturer, and it would be $33 bucks and a long wait. While I was in Franklin auto, I asked the guy behind the counter, and he looked it up, gave me the bad news, then claimed to have 4 civic hatchbacks just like mine. He does. One of them is a parts car, and he offered for me to come and snatch a cable out of it for free if I did the labor.
I called him a couple days ago and left a message, and -get this- he CALLED ME BACK! It was in the middle of chemistry, but he actually called back. I guess I am going to go over and get the cable on Tuesday after I get back from San Fran.
And what is up with so many minimum days @ school? Next week is testing for underclassmen, but seniors don't have to take them. So we get minimum days all next week. I think leadership set up a $50 drawing for the kids who actually come to school every day next week. Not that I am complaining, but ... seriously?! Whatever, it's cool.
One more thing. You may have noticed the new look. Yeah, it's got a bunch of bugs, and I need to get the rest of the content up, but it is coming along. I created a shoutbox out of the database that used to be the phorum, so look for your post there. (BTW, it looks like crap if you use google auto fill from toolbar v2.0.x - turn it off) I haven't finished coding it yet, and I need to rebuild the database for the dates to work, so bear with me as I continue my efforts to finish it. Perhaps if I get good feedback I will open-source it. :)
So until next time, don't let the elephants get you.
