mecha-what?

So at orientation I was thinking about being a CS major. Then I realized that I don't want to be a programmer for the rest of my life. I already sit in front of a computer 40 hours a week, and I don't really want to do this for the rest of my life. Well, I switched my major to mechatronics engineering.
What is it? Glad you asked. It is basically a combination of Mechanical, Computer, and Electronics Engineering. Yeah, a combination. Lets just say that I was looking over the 4-year plan, and there are lots of math classes. Lots.
But do I really want to do that? Who knows. I heard that the average person changes their major 3 times or something like that. I haven't even started yet, and I have changed my major. ::sigh::
But what about web design? Don't I love it? Yes, I do, and perhaps I will continue to do it for a long time - I won't ever completely stop doing web design, but ... a career out of it? I don't know about that. I think that if I put that I was a mecha engineer on a resume, they wouldn't care. Maybe I could get a minor in something like graphics design or CS or something more geeky than mechatronics (is there something more geeky? Mechatronics major with a minor in computer science?)

All in all orientation was fun and I got all the classes I wanted (even if I am a bit ashamed at how dumb I am) and got to know the school better. I still think I might want to transfer to Cal Poly SLO (they have mecha as well), but I doubt it would happen. But hey, whatever, I am going to friggin college!!

that is awesome man. I am thinking of going into electronic engineering, never heard of the mechatronics, might have to look into that. Talk with you later!

I might switch my major again, so that would be my third time. I guess I am pretty average at this whole college thing. I am so excited for you! You will have so much fun because college is great.

Whoa! Geek alert ^__^ Actually, a career out of web design is not so far off. A lot of people (like me) are doing it and getting paid for it, starting young (16, *ehem*). As for mechatronics, I think that would be cool, but what can you do with it in the real world? Are there many jobs available?

peace out, have fun @ uni

Sounds related to robotics (my primary interest)...your BASIC Stamp experience my provide you a little bit of insight into this field.
