Leaving Austria
Quick post as my train to Prague leaves in less than half an hour from the south station which is still a tram ride away...
Our expanded travel gang went to Hallstatt, a sleepy little town on Lake Hallstatt (go figure) to have a day of hiking and resting and enjoying the afternoon rainshowers. We stayed in the nicest hostel, which also happened to be the town's football hub so we were able to watch the third place and final games of the world cup just downstairs from our rooms along with what seemed like the entire rest of the town!
Yesterday, we took a ferry ride along "the prettiest stretch of the Danube" according to Rick Steves. It was beautiful - aside from the torrents of rain coming down on us. Of course it stopped just in time for us to walk to the train station and get to Vienna. Again, I had no reservation, so after checking about a million different hostels I got a hotel room with Thahn, a nice travelmate from Boulder, CO...
Anyway, train is leaving... I'll catch up soon!
