it lives again!

I got a call from the computer shop today; they had my computer fixed in less than a week. They claimed it needed a new logic board, so they swapped it out and everything is peachy now - and it didn't cost me a dime! I haven't taken this thing apart yet (which was a good thing I guess) so I don't know much about it, but I do know that the logic board is the mac equivalent of a motherboard. I also know that in the macbook pros the dual-core processor is soldered directly onto the logic board, so my guess is that I have a completely new innards in my computer, processor and all.

Whatever. They didn't touch my hard drive, so all my data is still there untouched. Needless to say I'm going to be backing up all my stuff tonight, especially all my photos.

I feel like I'm whole again.

Really, thats almost as good as my experience with Toshiba. You know it started randomly shutting off. So after hours of being on the phone figuring it out, I got the adress to send the computer to be fixed at, in TN. 3 months later I get it back. a month later it starts doing it again. After another few months of trying to get them to fix it again(my factory warentee ended during the 3 months that they had it) I sent it away, only to get it back as if nothing had even changed. though there is a new mother board I found out that it was an engineering flaw in the speakers, which were not replaced at all. So I still have a shitty ass p4 toshiba laptop sitting on my desk not doing anything. . . such a waste. Never buy Toshiba.

I can think of a handful of people off the top of my head who have had terrible luck with Toshibas as well (one of them is James, below). Apple rocks.

same thing happened to my friend's new powerbook titanium like two or three years ago, but someone dropped it before she could get it fixed and they blamed it on that and charged her. that was really expensive-something like close to a grand but they cut the price in half after she bitched.

i've bought four cheap ass toshibas that haven't on their own (a soda landed on one), but i've probably just been lucky. the last one was $450 new a month ago, but it was for my sister and i didn't really care.
