it's all gone...
meghan 262: poor dave! first the car, now the bike. you just shouldn't own transportation at all. *tear*
I swear, I must be jinxed now. Last week my stereo got solen out of my car's trunk. Yesterday, I found that my bike was jacked. Yeah, everything that wasn't locked is missing, including the front wheel, handlebars, headset, pedals, etc.. So basically, the front half of my bike.
That was nothing.
I got out of class at eleven today, and as we all know, Blockbuster Video requires thier movies to be returned by the NOON on the third day. Well, it was eleven, that gave me an hour to get to the place, about 10 blocks away. I strolled on over to the "A" lot where my car was parked, and lo and behold, I can't find my car. It wasn't where I left it. I figured I forgot where I parked it, but after going up and down every aisle three times, I was convinced that ghettomobile was not there.
Someone stole my car.
I filed a police report and reported it to my insurance company and all the paperwork and stuff, but it is gone. My car is gone. My mom also informed me that due to the fact that the car wasn't worth much, we didn't have comprehensive insurance, so we get a total of $0.00 from AAA.
To recap:
1. Last week, someone broke into my car and stole about $700 worth of stereo equipment
2. Yesterday, someone jacked the front half of my bike
3. Today, I found that my car was stolen
Any questoins?

back to Redding
I took a road trip of sorts today. I took the hour plus drive back to my hometown, Redding. My parents (who have since moved to San Jose) were both staying in the Holiday Inn there for a conference my mom was basically organizing where the national president of her group showed up (my mom is the president of the state group). Anyway, they were both in Redding for whatever reason, so I thought it would be a good chance to see the both of them, plus catch up with some other friends before they went off to college.
I met my mom at the hotel, and she introduced me to all of her friends from the alliance, then the gave me the third degree on the whole college life, parties, love life, etc... (all the things moms want to know about). We only talked for about 20 minutes when my mom said "you have places to go, David, and I am taking a nap. See you later." I mean, my mom loves me, but is that the way to treat your son seeing him for the first time since he started college?! I mean, shouldn't it be more like a "here's a check, where do you want to go for dinner?" Hrm, maybe. Then again, maybe not :-/
After leaving the hotel, I went and picked up a cheesecake one of my neighbors had made for me, then checked on my old house. They are completely re-doing the deck, so if you look out that sliding glass door behind the cypress tree in the second picture, there is a two story drop! It is kind of a trip seeing my old house on the market, under construction, and completely empty. Aside from nearly every one of my childhood memories growing up. Don't get me started on that, though, or I will get too friggin depressed...
I went and saw a movie with Zach and his sister and one of her friends, and actually enjoyed it. Even despite the fack that Josh Hartnett played the main character. For a chick flick, it was really thought provoking and suprisingly well done (don't let the plot outline fool you - it really is) Anyway, after all that was done, I went to see James' parents, whom also call me thier son. I walked in the door, asked if I was too late for dinner, pet the dog and stared watching TV :) They didn't mind a bit. We talked for quite a while about college, where thier kid's lives were going (mine and James', that is) and the whole "moving on from being a teenager" thing. Again, very thought provoking conversation :)
Well, that was my afternoon in a nutshell, and now it's almost one in the morning, so i have to go sleep before my 9AM lecture tomorrow :( Peace.

labor day weekend
Labor Day Weekend in Chico is a lot like... tens of thousands of young adults getting completely shit faced for an entire three day weekend, some of whom wish to float down the Sacramento River on rafts with kegs and plenty of alcohol to go around for whoever wants it. Well, that's probably because that's all Labor Day Weekend in Chico is.
While I didn't participate in the widely publicized raft fun, I did have some fun of my own, going out on the town a lil bit, etc... Actually, I just spent about 2 hours at the Chico Dutch Bros. Coffe house drinking lots of caffine (I had an 8 shot mily way - blended of course - and the guy working hooked me up with 2 straight iced shots). And now, as the clock radio approaches midnight, and the 8:30AM lecture looms in the distance, I sit completely buzzed from caffine. The Dutch Bros. in Chico is not nearly as chill as the one in Redding, but we are going to turn it in to our new hang out spot I think. I cranked my car's system while we were there, and we got all the drive-through customers dancing to our ghetto music.
Whilst recovering from the crazy night, which seemed to take all day for some reason ;) I realized how much I really do miss Redding. Albeit, it is extremely boring, I did enjoy hanging out doing nothing. I mean, here it is always drama, parties, eating, games, school, all the college crap, but in Redding, it was ... nothing. I liked going to circuit city to listen to the radio, or knowing the graveyard shift mall cops on a first name basis. Those were the days. And now where are we? I am still wondering what I am doing in college. I just feel so out of place sometimes (then I see Tom, and feel better) but it is just so weird.
I decided I am going to write a book by the way. Don't ask me about it, because I don't want to tell you about it, I just thought you might want to know. Yeah, you. I'm going to write a book for fun.
