I finally signed the lease today (yesterday?) for the townhouse I am to share with Damien and Chuch next year. We are going to be living in unit C, which is apparently right next to the street (4th), which is next to Paul and Cavans unit, and across from Meghan and Stacey's. It's like a party over there! Not to mention Bobby and Matt are going to be living right down the way from us. For better or for worse. At least there will be no shortage of pot on the premises.
I don't know how Chuck came about to become our third roommate, but I am pretty stoked about it. He drives a 2002 Subaru Outback with a cold air intake and cat back exhaust, so that might have something to do with it. He let me drive it. I miss driving so terribly much it makes me sick. Every time we go anywhere, no matter who I'm with, I want to (and usually am able to) drive. I just love driving, and am crushed that I don't have a car anymore. Not only that, but I really can't afford one right now, and I can only hope that I can somehow save enough money to get one by next summer. Speaking of, I think I may have landed another job from a guy in Redding today, but we'll see how that goes. The job I worked on over break just keeps coming back to bite me in the ass and I just don't know what to do about it, so I plan on creating a more ... solid business model for the way I do things.
I was also able to help Dave out with his website. He let me install movabletype on it, which is just another blocg program which turned out to be really cool. I guess you can look for it on the front page in a few days or so.
I'm really tired now.
My mom called me yesterday, for the first time in quite a while. Granted, I was suprised she called, but I was even more suprised to learn that she was in Redding, just an hour away from me, and didn't stop by to see me. The reason she called? She was cleaning the house we have in Redding. It's back on the market again, you can check it out online here. Check out the virtual tour or whatever it's called; my room was the "lower level room 1".
Ironically, I did a lot of work on the reddingcoldwellbanker.com website when I was working at Shasta.com (they design and host it.)
Anyway, so my mom was in Redding, and she called me to ask if she could get rid of some stuff I left in the house. Yeah, I love you too mom :) But anyway, moral of the story is I called her back today and made her and my dad (he was there the whole time apparently) and made them take me out to dinner at Chipotle.
As for me now, I get to go catch up with all my math homework before my first test tomorrow. Fun stuff.
So I have had my computer since May of 2002. For almost 3 years I have installed the updates, removed the viruses, cleaned the spyware, and just loved my machine. It has gone to many a LAN party, survived being overclocked the hell out of, not to mention the RMA on the motherboard and a few upgrades (processor, ram, video card...)
I guess it all started when I got my new video card. The ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. Out of nowhere I started getting the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and had to restart my computer. After fighting with it for a long time, disabling hardware, driver updates from ATI, flashing the BIOS on my motherboard, etc... I just learned to live with it, and my roommate learned to live with me yelling obscenities every few hours when I was working.
But that's all over now. Yesterday I started getting error messages about files being corrupted, including such loved ones as firefox.exe and then on to explorer.exe. I restarted the computer, and lo and behold it crashed before I even got to the logon screen. I tried safe mode, same thing. Basically, my commputer will not start. I have tried everything in my power, including a full system restore off the CD, manually editing registry keys from boot disks, EVERYTHING! I wish I could just start fresh, but I have soooo terribly much data on that computer that I just can't lose. All of my files are there and in tact, but some of the system files are completely corrupted. What I am doing even as I type this (on my LINUX server, mind you) is installing windows on a separate hard drive (always good to have a 4-gig around) and I plan on transfering all of my files that I need to save on to my iPod's 40 gig hard drive and hope it holds everything.
If that doesn't work, I am most likely going to have to buy a new hard drive (a good idea anyway) and probably a new motherboard while I'm at it, all with money I really don't have right now (can you say ... books?)
seriously, what was I doing? and I wasn't even drunk...
