I just realized that I haven't even put up pictures of my car. Well, here they are, I just wish that it was under better circumstances :(

So I was traveling west on Old Alturas coming around that corner at browning street when a car coming from the north stops at the stop sign, looks and guesses it's safe to continue - without seeing me there. Well, I was definately there, traveling at the speed limit. I looked up and saw him there, making a left turn (to be heading east, opposite direcion of me) onto the street I was on. I watched him pull out, and also saw him look up in horror at the fact that I was just about to t-bone him! I swerved to the left, kind of assuming he would slam on his brakes and I'd go around him, but what does he do? He put on the gas thinking he could get out of the way in time. Well, this caused us to be in the same place at the same time, which the cars didn't like all that much. There was the typical screeching tires (mine) and the horrific crunch and the sound of breaking glass (my front headlight, I guess) and we collided. It sucked.

<img src="/car/crash_front_tn.jpg" border"0" title="front view" alt="">

<img src="/car/crash_side_tn.jpg" border"0" title="side view" alt="">

The damage was not nearly as bad as it could have been, and for that I am thankful, but it's still just a bitch, you know? One more thing to add to my list of things to do, (like get a new cell phone). Oh, yeah, sorry for the crap pictures, but it's night time right now, and I'm tired after playing ultimate and the such, so gimme a break. And here's a map of the intersection where it happened, in case you don't know:

There was a police report involved, and I get to spend my lunch break at triple-a tomorrow; I'm just hoping for the best on this one because it was definately not my fault. In fact, the officer (officerette?) who filed the report didn't even ask what happened really, she just took the paperwork, and did all that stuff. Then she looked at me and said "you're free to go", and looked at the other guy (who I didn't share more than 2 words with) and said "you need to stay, I'm giving you a citation..."

As you may have read on slashdot, Google has come out with their new personalizeable home page. This just shows how much more google is taking over the internet with their abundance of new features. In my mind, they are aiming to replace Yahoo! as the leading content site on the internet. When Yahoo! came out, it was primarily a search engine, then they pushed their free email, then the content such as news, weather, etc... to their homepage, now look at it.

Well, google has come out with their own version of a content based homepage rather than a search based homepage. I have always loved google because it is just a search engine - you can get to all that other stuff like gmail too - but it's just a great search engine. Now, however, with the ability to add things like slashdot, weather, and of course the latest stilldavid posts through my RSS Feed, what more could any internet-dwelling user need? I was wondering when it would come to this, but I was more curious about how google would do it. I wouldn't doubt if it's in their mission statement to not let their homepage source code span more than 16 lines, so we know they're devoted to keeping the front page simple. I doubt if they'll ever put this amount of content on their front page ever (without a user changing personal settings), but we'll just have to see where they go. And I wonder - I just wonder - if google will EVER release something out of beta?

So I was in chico hangin' out yesterday and my phone decides to be in my shorts cell-phone pocket (go figure) as I proceed to get in a body of water. Bad idea. Well, my cell phone is broken now, and of course the warranty is void due to the fun little water sensing stickers they have in phones these days. Anyway, I think I am going to wait and see if it dries out (the guy at the sprint store said they usually do and work fine) and if not I guess I'm SOL and have to buy a new phone, probably off ebay because they are cheap. If you know anyone selling a sprint phone, let me know.

Oh yeah, and someone made a reference to the movie "The Secret of Nimh" today. Seriously, that takes me back. Like, whoa.

Google filed a patent in March that is described as such:

A system identifies a document and obtains one or more types of history data associated with the document. The system may generate a score for the document based, at least in part, on the one or more types of history data.

Bascically what this means is that they are going to start (or have started) looking at the lenghth of registration for domain names and make that information pertinent to the sites pageRank™®©. Why? Think about it... most search engine spam comes from domains that are only registered for a period of one year (companies can register for domains up to 10 years). This information is publicly available from the whois databases that exist, but who would have thought of using it for search engine ranks?

What is search engine spam? Have you ever done a search and come to a page that has a bunch of keywords in it with no real information? Perhaps just a bunch of links to sponsored pages from the same company to boost their own traffic? That would be it. Try googling for something like "cheap honda auto parts" and you will find a million of them.

Anyway, I just thuoght it was interesting. Just shows how cool google is, but also how worried I am for having only registred this domain for 2 years :-/

I was finally able to go out on Zach's boat last Saturday after months of waiting! We woke up in the morning to a completely overcast sky, but we decided to go anyway. It was me, Zach, Billie, Alex, and Zach's dad. It's a pretty nice mastercraft boat with a monster tower on it, and Billie brought his wakeboard to add to our collection. I brought along my camera, an got a few semi-descent pictures before my camera f-ed up hardcore (some memory card write error or whatever). It was overcast, so some of the pics aren't so hot, but I wasn't really focusing on getting the best pictures, so gimme a break.

It was a fun day, and we are going to try to get out on the lake at least once a week from now on. Who knows, maybe I'll be the one doing backflips and whatnot by the end of the summer (right now I can clear over half the wake, and it's been 2 years since I've tried...)

I have a plague. I am a 19 year-old male, and I like cars. Especially fast cars. So does my friend Jack. Perhaps that's why when we were driving in downtown Los Gatos, CA where my parents live, the car came to a near dead stop as we drove by the Silicon Valley Auto Group. Why? There was a plethora of Ferraris, Bentlys, Rolls Royces, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Lotus, ... well, you get the idea. Here's a picture so you can fully appreciate where we were:

That's Jack next to (correct me if I'm wrong) a Ferrari 360 spider, an Aston Martin DB9, and a Ferrari F430 F1 coupe. Here's another one of Jack next to a brand new Lotus Elise... 2005 is the first year they have been available in America. And of course the Ferrari insignia:

Pardon the pics, they were all taken with my cell phone...

I think the creme of the crop was in the showroom where we witnessed the 2005 Aston Martin V-12 Vanquish type S - the same car James Bond drove in Die Another Day. One of the employees was moving it out of the showroom, and people stopped in their tracks on the street as everyone paused while it drove by. $255,000 MSRP. Then of course there was the guy test driving the Lotus (deciding whether he wanted blue or red) ... Like I said, you get the idea. I was in heaven. Then there was the Lamborghini Murcielago just parked on the street...
