Sorry, been busy the last few weeks with finals, Christmas, snowboarding, family, you know the drill. Not much to report, other than I love snowboarding, but we already knew this. I love driving when conditions are bad, or even when highway 99 is flooded. I won't tell the story about how I got the car stuck in the snow and had to get someone to bail me out...
Anywho, I will be going to San Jose for a new years party tonight, back up to Chico tomorrow, then perhaps get a day of snowboarding in at Shasta again before I start work on Tuesday. That's all for now... don't know when I'll be in front of a computer again.
Okay, this is a rant. Just so you know.

I am supposed to be in class right now. Assembly Language Programming to be exact, taught by one of the most incompetent teachers at my uni. For starters, he didn't even open the emulator - required to make the programs work - in class until after the third assignment. He apparently retired 3 years ago, but they brought him back just for the semester because nobody else would teach this class. So why am I ranting now?
Today is black friday. No, not as in the day after thanksgiving, but the friday before finals. The biggest test of the semester is mere days away, and on the LAST class period before it - our last possible time to get info from the teacher about what to study for etc... - what does he do? He sits down and puts a movie of ANOTHER TEACHER on the screen giving a lecture about an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT architecture, which is of no use to us in our class. A way into it, during a pause or whatever, he asks the class why computers use binary. I said because electrons have two states, on and off, plus and minus. He didn't hear me, but he went on to ask why they aren't ternary, or use three states. He asked why they don't use -5 volts, 0, and 5 volts. Oh. My. God. I don't want to get into details, but he is seriously one of the dumbest teachers. I got up right then before the movie started playing even, and left. I hope he took the hint. I don't even care if I fail the class anymore; I'd rather take it over and actually learn the fucking material than get a C- and move on none the smarter. I am glad that I marked him as low as is possible on the teacher reivews, but it won't matter anyway. He'll never read my response. He is leaving after this semester, and - in my opinion - that is for the best for his students, and for the university.

So now I am going to go to calculus, where I might just learn something.
After landing and getting off the plane on Wednesday, I noticed that I couldn't hear out of my right ear. Not only that, but it was massively swollen and even bleeding a little bit. My mum was, and still is, convinced I was bitten by some foreign bug in New Zealand, but either way I am now on antibiotics (keflex) to get it gone. In the process, I have managed to get sick, probably from my sister (thanks for nothing!) and was barely alive for my classes today. I ditched out of work an hour early even. I'm exhausted and don't know why I am still awake. I hate being sick.
I did manage to get to zumiez today and buy a new snowboarding jacket which I probably shouldn't have, but I love spending money. Plus, it was on sale! It's a DC and has more "features" than I ever knew existed on a mere jacket. I can't wait to be able to go snowboarding again!!! I am so so so very excited! I must have waxed my board 10 times since last season :-/ I just want to get school over and done with. I'm dreading finals after missing a week of classes and lectures, but I'm so glad I made it back in time for the "dead week" of review. After that... I am snowboarding every day this break if I possibly can. I'm working in Chico, but my roommate also has a cabin in Dunsmuir (25 min. from the mountain) which is going to have an open door policy for us.
Plus, it was good to be missed. It's a good feeling when people are happy to have you return.
